Spermatogenesis is the process through which sperm stem cells (spermatogonia) develop into mature sperm cells capable of fertilizing an egg. This involves cell division, proliferation, and differentiation of germ cells into fully functional sperm.

When Does Spermatogenesis Begin?

This process only becomes active at puberty. Before this stage, the testicles contain seminiferous tubules with immature Sertoli cells and early-stage sperm precursors that are not yet capable of developing into mature sperm.

How Long Does Spermatogenesis Take?

The entire process takes 74 days. Because of this, any medical intervention aimed at improving sperm production can only be fully evaluated after about three months.
